stop the hateABC7/WABC-TV New York, the most-watched station in the nation, presents an exclusive streaming town hall, “Stop the Hate: An Eyewitness News Social Town Hall,” on Thursday, March 4 (4:00-5:00 p.m. EST), to address xenophobia and the rising violence against Asian Americans. The town hall will stream live on ABC7NY.com and ABC7 New York’s Connected TV Apps on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku.

Host Eyewitness News Nina Pineda will be joined by Eyewitness News reporter CeFaan Kim, who has done valiant reporting on the disturbing uptick in unprovoked attacks against Asian Americans in New York City. Kim has shined a light on the New York Police Department’s slow response to classify cases as hate crimes, resulting in the NYPD forming a special unit looking into violence against the Asian American community.

The one-hour town hall panel of experts include the following:

  • U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-NY)
  • Jo-Ann Yoo, executive director, Asian American Federation
  • Yasmeen Hamza, CEO, Womankind
  • Rej Joo, Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE)

Following the town hall, the conversation addressing violence against Asian Americans continues in a primetime streaming special, “Stop the Hate: The Rise in Violence Against Asian Americans,” on ABC News Live at 8:00 p.m. EST. ABC Owned Television Stations’ journalists CeeFan Kim (ABC7/WABC-TV New York), Dion Lim (ABC7/KGO-TV San Francisco) and Nydia Han (6abc/WPVI-TV Philadelphia), who have been speaking out in their local communities for weeks, will appear in the streaming special, anchored by ABC News’ Juju Chang and Eva Pilgrim. The primetime special will stream on ABC News Live and on ABC Owned Television Stations’ websites and connected TV apps at ABC7/WABC-TV New York, ABC7/KABC-TV Los Angeles, ABC7/WLS-TV Chicago, 6ABC/WPVI-TV Philadelphia, ABC7/KGO-TV San Francisco, ABC13/KTRK-TV Houston, ABC11/WTVD-TV Raleigh-Durham and ABC30/KFSN-TV Fresno on streaming platforms Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku.
