Ashley’s Review of F9
Magnets, space, John Cena, oh my!
Dominic Torreto has finally met his match. He has always been about family but what happens when the person he now has to go against is his own brother? The newest installment in the Fast and Furious saga is even more action packed than its predecessors and the team goes to new heights. If you are a fan of the previous films, buckle up and prepare for a non stop ride of explosions, unbelievable stunts, and of course, cars.
What is F9 about?
Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the
most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, the upcoming The Suicide Squad).
F9 cast
The film stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang, with Oscar® winner Helen Mirren, with Kurt Russell and Oscar® winner Charlize Theron. F9 also features Grammy-winning superstar Cardi B as new franchise character Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past, and a cameo by Reggaeton sensation Ozuna.
Wasn’t too crazy about…
There are a couple times when the CGI is a little heavy, to the point that my friend (who is a long time fan of the saga) mentioned some of these moments felt a little obnoxious. But, the things the Fast Family achieves are out of this world, literally! Just make sure to not try any of those stunts at home.
F9 details…
F9 has a runtime of 143 minutes and has been rated PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some Material May Be Inappropriate for Children Under 13) for sequences of violence and action, and language.
Should I see this movie?
Some familiar faces make a return, which bumps the nostalgia factor up, but there are always reasons for these characters to make a return. I recommend this movie, especially if you like the other Fast movies. The storyline and backstory is continuing to be built on this team and I don’t think this is the last we will see of them! F9 is action packed all of the way through. There are some sentimental moments that pull this movie together, so you do get some moments to relax… even if it’s only for a second. Make sure to stick around for those end credits!
