The full soundtrack album for The Wild Robot, including “Even When I’m Not,” will be available on September 27, 2024.

DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot the eagerly anticipated adaptation of the beloved, award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller by Peter Brown. The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling. The film, starring Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of Roz, is a powerful story about the discovery of self, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things.

The track “Kiss the Sky” was crafted for a stunning, seven-minute scene of geese migration, a pivotal emotional sequence in the film. As the sequence continues, the song is interwoven with the film’s score by Oscar® winning composer Kris Bowers (Green Book).

After Morris and her team of co-writers screened the finished film, they were inspired to write a second song for the film, “Even When I’m Not,” which is featured in the film’s end credits and is threaded with the film’s final score cues.

“I was so emotionally moved by this story as a mother,” Morris says. “Writing the songs for this film was such an honor because it made me feel even closer to my son, especially when I’m touring and sometimes have to be far away from him. The entire Wild Robot team has been so supportive of the creation of these songs and I’m so excited for the world to see this film.”

“Kiss the Sky,” and “Even When I’m Not,” both performed and written by Morris, were also written by Ali Tamposi, Michael Pollack, Delacey, Jordan Johnson and Stefan Johnson, with additional writing by Isaiah Tejada on “Even When I’m Not” only. Production duo The Monsters & Strangerz (Jordan & Stefan Johnson) have also produced both songs along with Isaiah Tejada.

The Wild Robot is written and directed by three-time Oscar® nominee Chris Sanders (The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon, Lilo & Stitch) and is produced by Jeff Hermann. The film stars the voices of Nyong’o, Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal, Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara, Emmy winner Kit Connor, Oscar® nominee Bill Nighy and Oscar® nominee Stephanie Hsu.
