Cute little zoo animals and zombies – seems like the perfect blend for a fun, family movie, right? Night of the Zoopocalypse, from Viva Pictures, will be released only in theaters across North America on March 7, 2025. This new film features the voices of David Harbour (Stranger Things, Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts), Scott Thompson (The Kids In The Hall, The Pacifier), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian, Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Gabbi Kosmidis (Unicorn Academy, Fellow Travelers). But is Night of the Zoopocalypse the right movie for your family?
About Night of the Zoopocalypse
Brace yourself for impact! After a meteor unleashes a virus that turns zoo animals into mutants, a mountain lion (David Harbour) and wolf (Gabbi Kosmidis) lead a team of surviving animals to stop the virus and rescue their zoo.
Inspired by a concept from best-selling genre author Clive Barker (“The Thief of Always”), NIGHT OF THE ZOOPOCALYPSE is directed by veteran animators Ricardo Curtis (The Incredibles, The Angry Birds Movie, The Iron Giant) and Rodrigo Perez-Castro (The Book of Life, Ice Age: Collision Course, Ferdinand). Curtis co-founded and Perez-Castro served as head of creative development at House of Cool, which has become the top animation pre-production studio in the world helping to bring to life films like Paw Patrol, The Peanuts Movie, Despicable Me, and the Ice Age films as well as series like He-Man, Trollhunters and the How to Train Your Dragon series.
The film is produced by Steven Hoban’s Copperheart Entertainment and co-produced by Charades Productions, U Media and IDL Films, in association with House of Cool.
My Thoughts on Night of the Zoopocalypse
Night of the Zoopocalypse is great for older elementary school-aged kids that are into zombies and jump scares. I definitely did not expect the movie to be as insane as it was. It’s basically a horror movie…for children. Coated in a weird-ish neon glow, this movie promises to keep every 8 year old watching on the edge of their seats.
A refreshing break from the traditional “cutesy and fluffy” family movies, Night of the Zoopocalypse is rated PG for action, peril, and scary images with a runtime of 91 minutes. Grab tickets now to see it this weekend!
