Selena was one of the most celebrated entertainers of her generation, but her life was tragically cut short in 1995 at the age of 23. Now, 30 years after her tragic murder, could her killer be set free? “IMPACT x Nightline” investigates.
ABC News Studios’ “IMPACT x Nightline: Selena Beyond the Headlines” begins streaming on Thursday, March 27, only on Hulu. The episode, led by “Nightline” co-anchor Juju Chang, features interviews with people who worked closely with Selena as her star rose throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Martin Gomez, the fashion designer who created Selena’s iconic purple jumpsuit that many celebrities still pay tribute to today. Gomez shared an office with Selena’s killer for months leading up to Selena’s murder. Gomez and others share memories about Selena they’ve never shared before, including rare photos and unseen fashion sketches that paint a picture of what was lost and what endures.
Additional interviews include the following:
- Joe Nick Patoski, author of “Selena: Como La Flor” and a former staff writer at Texas Monthly Magazine
- Leila Cobo, chief content officer, Billboard Latin & Español
- Ramon Hernandez, photographer and musicologist
- Sonya Aleman, Ph.D., associate professor, University of Texas, San Antonio
