**Disclaimer – I received these books for review purposes from the Disney Book Group. All opinions are my own.

Story time is always a favorite in this Neurotic Disney home. NDK (Neurotic Disney Kid) is old enough to read, but not too old to still be read to! Books are wonderful on so many levels. We keep them everywhere – even in the car! Disney Books are a great way to keep Disney at home. Disney Book Group was kind enough to send these books for NDK approval – be sure to look for the NDK Review after the description of each book!

  • Marvel Avengers BeginningsThe Avengers: Beginnings
  • Page Count: 48 * Price: $12.99

NDK is recently obsessed with the Avengers. So obsessed, that even NDD(Neurotic Disney Daddy) has become impressed with her “knowledge.” This book just adds to what NDK knows. In a step up from the World of Reading books, this book takes you on an adventure through the world of the Avengers in a graphic style(not scary-graphic, but more picture/image oriented). Still age appropriate for children 6-8 years old, but more challenging to read than the Level 1 World of Reading books, this book is great for any Avengers fan!

From the publishers:

When the world is overwhelmed with Super Villains, time traveling conquerors, alien invaders, mythical beasts and robots bent on the total destruction of humanity . . . the Earth calls upon its Mightiest Heroes: THE AVENGERS! Discover how the Mighty team began as we read how Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow, and Captain America assembled to become Earth’s mightiest heroes!

The NDK Review: I like this book because I learned even more about the Avengers. It’s not just a story book, but a story book with different facts about each Avenger. This book is great for someone my age(7) or older. It’s very colorful and very cool. And very fun to read, too!

  • Marvel Super Heroes 2nd EditionMeet the Marvel Super Heroes, 2nd Edition
  • Page Count: 160 * Price: $12.99

I kid you not, this is NDK’s new favorite book. For such a “Princess Girl,” this books has completely made her a fan! While she is still not “brave enough” for the shows, this book fulfills her quest for knowledge of these super heroes. I have found her, many nights, still awake after being tucked in, reading this book under the covers!

In an encyclopedia format, this book very colorfully illustrates each Marvel Super Hero from A to Z. NDK can easily navigate to any hero she wants. Included in this book is a handy index, which makes navigation even simpler! A perfect gift for any Marvel fan, young or old, at a fantastic price!

From the inside cover:

An A to Z guide to the heroes of the Marvel Universe, from Ant-Man to Hulk to Wolverine, with everyone else in between! Meet the Marvel Super Heroes will give detailed descriptions of everyone’s favorite characters, including origins, powers, and secret identities. Full of trivia and fun facts on more than 100 heroes, this exciting book is sure to delight Marvel fans, young and old!

The NDK Review: This is a big book about every Avenger there is! It’s like an encyclopedia for Avengers! This is one of my most favorite books. It teaches you more about every Avenger without having to watch the show. I like the Avengers because they fight crime and they are good people. Some of them do not have super powers, but that’s ok. It’s very interesting. It’s not a storybook, so if I have to stop reading, I really do not lose my place. I can read about any Avenger I want to – and learn about ones I never even knew about! The Avengers are in A to Z order, so it is really easy to find who I want to look for. I think I even learned about some Avengers that my NDD (Neurotic Disney Daddy) did not know about!

  • return of the jediStar Wars: Return of the Jedi Read-Along Storybook and CD
  • Page Count: 32 * Price: $6.99
  • CD included

In this epic CD storybook, we are taken on the last adventure in the original trilogy. I love the CD storybooks for all they have to offer. The memories of being a child (when they were on records!), the visions of the actual movies, the fun action packed sound effects and voices, these books have it all! Disney Books has released the final story just in time before the release of the saga on digital HD. See our previous reviews of the other installments:

A New Hope   –The Empire Strikes Back

From the publisher:

The Rebellion begins a desperate mission to defeat the Empire once and for all in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. Fully illustrated with gorgeous images by Star Wars artist Brian Rood, this epic storybook also includes a CD with word-for-word narration, music, and character voices. Follow along as Luke Skywalker and the rest of the rebels take on the Empire’s deadliest weapon yet–a new Death Star.

The NDK Review: I like this book. It tells about the last battle in the story. Until the new one comes out of course. It is just like the other two books. But now the story is complete. I want to listen to all three books, one right after the other! Listening to these books is so much fun!
