Story time is always a favorite in this Neurotic Disney home. NDK (Neurotic Disney Kid) is old enough to read, but not too old to still be read to! Books are wonderful on so many levels. We keep them everywhere – even in the car! Disney Books are a great way to keep Disney at home. Disney Book Group was kind enough to send these books for NDK approval – be sure to look for the NDK Review after the description of each book!

Inside Out Box setFrom the publisher:

This box set houses five fun Inside Out stories in a unique die-cut slipcase. Dive inside Riley’s mind and get to know the Emotions that know her best with this unique format. With five fun storybooks, each devoted to a different Emotion, as well as a die-cut slipcase, fans of Pixar’s upcoming film, Inside Out, will treasure this special collection of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust.

This was such a fun set of books! The set of five contains a story about each Emotion. NDK loved these short stories. Each day, she would change out the Emotion in the die-cut circle of the slipcase.

The NDK Review: These are fun books. Each book starts with the Emotion introducing themselves and then it tells you what they are in charge of. The book also tells you what is great about each Emotion and what they are like. This was a great set of books!

Inside Out Sadly ever afterFrom the inside cover:

Sadness is always obsessing over the weight of life’s problems. She is sadness, after all. But her fellow Emotions in Headquarters are determined to get Sadness to feel something – anything – other than sad! After recalling some of Riley’s best memories, will Sadness finally have her happy ending?

Such a cute book! The artwork in this story is amazing. This story is a great way to teach younger children just how all of your emotions work together! With a FREE downloadable version of Lava, how can you go wrong? You’re going to Lava it!

The NDK Review: This was a funny story. Joy was trying to get Sadness to feel happy. But the other Emotions changed things which made Sadness sad. Then Joy told Sadness to think of a sad memory. The pictures are different from the movie – I really liked them. It’s a fun story. I think everyone will like this book.

  • Inside Out (Read-Along Storybook and CD)
  • Price: $6.99 * Ages: 6-8 yrs old

Inside Out CDFrom the publisher:

Relive all of the Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust from the upcoming Disney*Pixar film, Inside Out, with this delightful read-along storybook and CD featuring hilarious narration, thrilling sound effects, and original character voices!

Jump inside Riley’s mind in this great read-along story! I have always been a fan of the read-along storybooks, and this one delivers just as much fun! With pictures directly from the movie and original voices, this is definitely a must have for any child’s bookshelf!

The NDK Review: I like this book. It is just like the movie. The voices are the same from the movie, too! The pictures are exactly from the movie. Sometimes, the colors of the words are changed to match the emotion! I think Disgust is my favorite character. She is really pretty.

  • Inside Out: Driven By Emotions
  • Price: $10.99 * Ages: 8-12 yrs
  • hardcover

Inside Out Driven by EmotionsFrom the publisher:

In this middle grade novel, Driven by Emotions, experience Pixar’s upcoming film, Inside Out, as you never will in the theater. This unique chapter book reveals unseen stories from Inside Out. Each chapter offers a different retelling of the film from one of Riley’s Emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust.

Reading the book and experiencing the story from the point of each Emotion makes this book very unique! I highly recommend this book for older children.

The NDK Review: There are no pictures in Driven by Emotions.  I am reading this book, but I would think older kids would like it better than little kids. I like the way the Emotions are telling their own stories. Every chapter is a different Emotion. The bottom of each page is color coded so you know which Emotion you are reading about. I can’t wait to finish this book!
