Dog Man: The Musical opens with George(Kadesh Lewis) and Harold(Edwin Perez) in the treehouse lamenting over musicals they have to learn about in school. They come up with the ingenious idea of creating their own musical, since “everything is a musical these days,” based on one of their favorite creations, Dog Man(Brandon James Butorovich). Breaking out into a high-energy opening number, the story begins.

Dog Man Orlando Repertory TheatreAfter learning the backstory of how Dog Man came to be, he immediately is out fighting crime against the world’s most evil cat, Petey(Will Sippel) and saving a sweet kitten(Génesis M. Freytes Álvarez). To keep the energy going, Dog Man must also fight Flippy(Da’Zaria Harris), the cyborg fish.

Dog Man Orlando Repertory TheatreI am always impressed with the creativity of the Orlando Rep. The sets and props were extremely authentic and very reminiscent of a comic strip. With 16 songs, moving buildings and robots, this 59 minute show(no intermission) will have you laughing from beginning to end.
