Come join the the party as D23 recognizes Walt Disney World’s 40th Anniversary! The resort has changed so much since its opening in 1971, becoming more popular and magical every year. If you’re a D23 member, you can join the jamboree with Destination D: Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary on May 14 and 15 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Take a guided journey through the history of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, as you look back from the first moment the land was purchased. See how it’s grown and developed through retrospectives of the resort, exclusive screenings of rare and newly discovered film, archival displays, and informative presentations. This special weekend offers entertainment and surprise guests to give D23 Members an in depth look at the world’s favorite vacation destination. Disney Legends Marty Sklar, Bob Gurr, Jack Lindquist, Charlie Ridgway, Tom Nabbe, Bob Matheison, and many more will be on hand to help make this magical opportunity a one in a life time experience. Guests attending the event will also receive a complimentary, limited-edition reproduction of the 1970 “Preview Edition” of the Walt Disney World souvenir guidebook.
Want to extend your trip and start off your weekend with adventure? May 12th & 13th, 2011 The Great Disney Scavenger Hunt is coming to WDW as well! This two day hunt is a fun-filled exploration of the resort’s signature parks, as your team searches for the answers to some challenging Disney questions. Are you the biggest Disney expert? This is the place to test your skills!
Scavenger Hunt participants may book for a team of two to four people. The person who registers for the Hunt will be designated the Team Leader. Only the person who registers needs to be a D23 Member in order to utilize the D23 Member rate. You must secure your spot in advance to participate. Park entry is not included with the price of the Scavenger Hunt and will be required to fully participate in the hunt experience.
Destination D: Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary event tickets are available only to D23 Members in good standing. Members may reserve a ticket for themselves and one guest. There are a limited number of tickets available at $175 per person or $215 for ticket plus one Great Disney Scavenger Hunt team (of between two and four people). Tickets become available on the D23 Website, Thursday, February 24, at 10 a.m. PST/ 1 p.m. EST. Check this link beginning the 24th to order your tickets.
